GDT 4/30/25: Braves @ Rockies - Climbing Back To .500

I just can't believe it. You've got two unexpected guys who are going, a chance to keep building momentum with them, and you pick a dead guy off the waiver wire and put him in the lineup. 1. What kind of ****ing idiot plays him; 2. What kind of ****ing idiot picks him up?

    Kelenic optioned, Rosario back.

Hey, in the AJC today, Kelenic says he knows what he's capable of doing. I think I do, too.

Probably not. But it didn't help.

GDT 4/29/25: Braves @ Rockies - AJSS Returns

Actually, they went further disciplining Kelenic than they did Acuña. They fired his ass. Prediction: Jarred Kelenic never takes another ML at bat in a Braves uniform.

    Kelenic optioned, Rosario back.

That's the comp I was thinking about. We overpaid Morton for four years to be a consistent and stabilizing influence in the rotation, why not do the same at a lower level for Robertson in the pen? And Robertson hasn't lost much. He could handle some high leverage innings.

    Kelenic optioned, Rosario back.

That'd be a great pickup. Don't know why we're not making that call this morning.

    Kelenic optioned, Rosario back.

Rosario means nothing in this transaction. He's just another swinging d*ck. The point was that this is the end of the amazing and profoundly meaningful Kelenic era.

GDT 4/20: Holmes is the Easter Beagle

Have you ever been in a dugout when one of your teammates or players connects and it might go out and not looked at it?

    2025 Spring Training Thread

Serious question, then. He had an adequate fastball and a really good change and made it work through 2+ seasons and has an incredible postseason record despite a near-unanimous opinion here that his stuff is trash. You don't have to spin a spike curve. In fact, lower is better. You have to...

He was poorly scouted and overrated. Doesn't even seem like a Braves pick. Should have been one of the stupid teams that falls in love with the radar gun. He can't find home plate and never will. Spin rates and velo don't matter with 35 command.

I love the way he ****s all over the guy and then at the end for the money shot it's oh yeah, had a 2.38 ERA and a near 30% K rate over 80 innings.

I would like Castillo from the Mariners. But we'd have to come up with a deal that didn't include Kelenic, they had enough of his **** out there.

Agree, but Flaherty would not have been without exceptional risk. Yanks backed out last year over his back.

I am a Florida grad, and I did not share that view. I put a heavy premium on command, and the guy couldn't find home plate with a shovel and a flashlight. He walked 5 per 9 with a 4.50 ERA. The Fangraphs writer ignored the WS game when he got rocked but his teammates papered it over with 24...

    Bravos sign Profar.

Heh. Actually, the way I take that is he's saying we have enough swinging dicks to fill the rotation, but are open to acquiring an actual established ML starting pitcher. For me, there is one that I like a lot -- would fit the bill and might be affordable, doesn't seem to have a job offer...

    Bravos sign Profar.

Right. And he was at 86.5 in 2023. So that will be a clear benchmark. Wonder if a leg kick makes that much difference. xwOBA was .365, so I think it was real improvement but question whether it is sustainable. Alex says he thinks it is. But last year Alex put a lot of chips on Kelenic, and...
