That’s more than they paid when Cease had more controllable years? If so, lol they’re not negotiating in good faith and have no interest in making a deal. It would be hilarious if they hold him, miss the playoffs, and let him walk for free.

Riley in left would probably be better than Bregman at ss or Baldwin at left…right? Not saying those are the only options but signing Bregman for 3rd and moving Riley to left isn’t a wild possibility.

What’s likely to happen is AA will sign whichever SP is left over and willing to take a 1 year deal. As for the outfield bat, likely the same. We’re not spending significantly on anyone. AA just won’t invest years and money into any major free agents.

Once the pitcher throws over twice unsuccessfully, why not get something silly like a 10’ lead. They can’t throw over again. Sure you don’t want to get doubled off on a line drive but get a huge lead.
