Expects Yuge Games
We're lucky to have two coveted catchers at the major league level. Here is what I would expect from each in 2015 if they were the full-time catcher:
Gattis: .830 OPS and 3.5 WAR
Bethancourt: .630 OPS 1.5 WAR
To me the choice between the two is simple. If you expect to contend in 2015 you keep Gattis and trade Bethancourt for players who can help you at the major league level. If you are rebuilding, trade Gattis for young cost-controlled players or prospects and take the chance Bethancourt will realize his upside. I'm not opposed to keeping both. But we don't have much in the way of trade chips outside these two.
