Rome had an early game today. Not much to report on the mound.

There are obviously more players of interest, but I'm pretty much only paying attention to the top three hitters in the order right now - OF Kevin Kilpatrick, C Drake Baldwin, INF Ignacio Alvarez. All 2022 draft picks and all had good days today and have gotten off to great starts.

Kilpatrick went 2-4 with a double and a walk. He has four stolen bases already while playing center field. He's hitting .357 with a .955 OPS.

Baldwin went 3-4 with a walk. He has 5 BB/2 K this year, hitting .333 with a .904 OPS.

Alvarez was 1-2 with two walks. He has 4 BB/2 K this year, hitting .308 with an .885 OPS.

I had some hope for Strickland when he was drafted, but his numbers have declined steadily from his freshman year at Samford on.

On offense, the guys you mention are the same ones I have am most interested in. I think Quintero has a shot. Morton and Mezquita are toolsy guys that have to start refining things or they likely have a AA ceiling.

Pretty strong signal they are developing him exclusively as a utility guy moving forward

Can’t ask for a better start to the season for our young pitching prospects. Murphy and Ritchie were both awesome in their season debuts, Smith-Shawver is the same today. 4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K.
