MOVES: Not official as of a.m., but Sims to Gwinnett, Blair to start in ATL Sunday.

Blair has started 21 games in AA and 15 in AAA, with success at both levels. If he never were sent down again, we would have him under contractual control for almost 7 years. He's an example of how to call up a player at the right time.

Rico, I know you have some insider knowledge.. so is Blair starting in ATL your theory or your sources?

Looking at Blair's background, I can't make a good faith argument that he doesn't deserve the call-up. College arm who has performed consistently well every year of his pro career. > 200 IP at AA and above and entering his age 24 season. It's still tough for me to swallow the Super Two situation, but at least they didn't have him break camp with the big club. Blair's as ready as a guy can be. As for the rest of the AAA crew (Mallex, Folty, Gant, Jenkins, Ruiz), I don't think any of them are ready at this point to be full-time MLB players.

It's finally starting to happen! The team is going to start getting younger and better, and at some point they will start bringing in MLB talent from outside the organization to supplement the home grown pieces.

Kind of like when we brought in Walden, Melvin, and Justin. Ugggh... and Uggla too.

Very clever move by the FO to assemble a team that is so bad AND old that it can by default only get younger and better.

John's response when John proposed it to John:

The next move should be to bring up Folty in the next couple weeks and send Norris to the pen or packing.

True, smart that they held him back until tomorrow to gain that 7th year of control, but by starting him tomorrow, he will gain super 2 status, so that the last four years will be several million more than had we waited another 6 weeks. Having said that, I'm very high on Blair and think he will be a strong part of our rotation for years.

Braves should go ahead and DFA Danny Burawa after tonight, not only does he suck he shouldn't have any trouble clearing waivers after stinking again tonight if you want to keep him in the organization.

Common thread tonight is so damn many unearned runs. A big fat FAIL for the defense last night.
