I'm excited to see how Sims overcomes the adversity of his last start. He gave up several runs, but didn't look bad in the process. No walks, several Ks, just homers.

It was his first start in his home town so I imagine he was a little excited. But the fact that he had a rough game but still managed to K a batter an inning while not walking anyone is encouraging. I'm anxious to see him in Atlanta but I still want the team to take it easy with Sims. He's still very young and I don't want to his his fledgling command get crushed by rushing him.

I completely agree. I really like the guy and he has as high of an upside as anyone in our system. Give him time, let him work his pitches and pray he can be a TOR guy. I do think he will be a 3-4 guy no matter what.

It also hurt Sims line that no one was making plays on defense behind him, of course giving up the homers right after that makes your line look worse. Hopefully he gets better defense tonight.

Rojas, an outfielder, was released by the Pirates after hitting .154 through 12 games in Class AAA Indy.

Sims got them in order in the second ending it with a K. I really thought he was very unlucky in the first as the contact was weak. He almost got out of it but what I thought would just be a pop out ended up blooping in between second and CF. Hopefully he finishes strong tonight.

This is a good lineup Sims is facing, too. Buxton, Kepler, JR Murphy, Kennys Vargas, etc.

Three two out hits and G-Braves tie 2-2. Garcia and that other Cuban and Lavarnway doubles 'em home. Ruiz pops out inning over.

I missed the last two innings, had company, Sims gave up a run in the 4th and had a scoreless 5th so 3 runs through 5 innings. 3-3 game in 6th.

Strong 6th by Sims, that's probably it for him, all told he pitched 6 innings and gave up three runs for a quality start. 4 H, 2 BB and 5 K's.

Believe it or not, Garcia actually made a fine running grab on a pop up to CF to end the sixth after Boni lost it in the lights.

I feel like Sims has been royally screwed defensively over his last two starts. I could be wrong, but it sounds like he has.

I didn't see the 4th so cannot speak to how that run came about, etc. But he simply had some bad luck in the first and otherwise pitched well tonight IMO. He got a quality start even with the bad luck in the first so nice finish. Good to see he didn't let it lead to a bad night.

Looks like you were right about Ruiz's flakiness. The guy is back in suck mode.

He certainly seems to be slumping now, chasing some balls he hadn't been when he was hot. Kid has always been very streaky, I hope he's finally turned a corner and can keep his bad streaks to short term. Time will tell.

I notice that Swanson's gone cold. Is he just running into bad luck?
