I sure miss him.

So do I. An old friend and I reminisced about him for about an hour straight a few weeks ago. He was the best.

I grew up listening to Skip and Pete on the radio.

His call-in show was a piece of work. It probably wouldn't last a week these days.

If any of you remember Skip always talking about Panos and Pauls restaurant, I happened to be seated at the next table from Skip one night, oh 25-30 years ago now. I asked him what was good on the menu. Skip recommended the deep fried lobster. Waste of lobster and not to my liking at all.

But, Skip, I still treasure your work on TBS and Braves games. RIP.

What can you say? Still miss him. Always will. His voice reached more hearts than he knew.

It's been five years to the day since Skip left us. Feel free to post favorite quotes or memories here.

Mine is; "...and the bases are loaded, and I wish I was, too..."

In the bad old days, in the late innings of another blowout from the coast: "If you'll promise to patronize our sponsors, you can go ahead and walk the dog."

I always loved when people would call in his radio show to ask him about the infield fly rule. Also loved it when he'd start talking about the traffic situation around Turner Field.

And now, another segment with the world's friendliest pregame show host. Here's Bubba from Griffin.

Bubba: Hey, Skip.
Skip: Hello.
Bubba: Hey Skip, you know that Dodgers reliever, Jim Bruske?
Skip: Yes, I do.
Bubba: You suppose when he has to sit in the bullpen in Montreal in April, he's a cold Bruske?
Skip: Moron.

Rip. His voice was baseball to me. Games just arent the same anymore. Every other announcer is awful compared to him except for rizzuto.

The braves dynasty ended the day skip passed.imo. I miss him a lot actually.
