7/16 SATURDAY GDT: Do Rockies continue to make Braves their beeyatch?

Amazing how AJP's bad performance totally overshadows Folty getting screwed by the HP Ump.

As completely ticked as I am at the home plate ump, bad calls happen. That one occurred when we still had a three run lead and we then proceeded to crap all over ourselves with wild pitches, an error by our second baseman, and a garbage throw from Aybar that allowed the winning run to score. Losers find a way to lose...and we're all of that.

This snowball effect happens to winners too, I have witnessed it with teams like Houston and Texas during their losing streaks where one player keeps making errors or a couple do, then next thing you know someone great defensively like Beltre in Texas follows with an error (after errors by Odor and Andrus same inning). That is what I call the snowball effect as it happens a lot and more on teams with a very bad defender at key positions (Aybar and AJP being among the worst for us).

Yea, I wonder how many minor league teams could beat us regularly. I don't want to find out to be honest.

Probably not many. As bad as our hitters are, when our starting rotation is healthy, I don't think too many AAA clubs would score a whole lot.

Bethancourt -- .267/.312/.426

Maybe we should've dropped aj and kept CB

This is all on frediot. He never gave CB a chance. His love for hot hitting AJ last year cost us a prospect in CB. Pathetic we couldn't have someone from the FO tell fredi to play cb more.

Check Bethancourt's stats behind the plate. They are AJ-like. He's hitting better in San Diego, but he's probably not in the Padres' long-term plans with Hedges in AAA.

Fredi Gonzalez was total old school in the work habits department and maybe he was too strict with Bethancourt. But that's probably why Bethancourt was gone. Clashes over his work habits and game prep were well documented.

He's been a positive defensively since he's been in the majors. Not even close to Pierzynski.

Not this year. I'll grant you it's a relatively small sample size. But I really get a kick out of the comparison because all of the same criticisms of Pierzynski were leveled against Bethancourt during his time in Atlanta. Poor framing. Poor pitch blocking. I don't get the front office's logic in bringing back Pierzynski, but Bethancourt was done in Atlanta.
