7/8 FRIDAY MINORS FINAL: Ellis breaks out ... Tyler Come Lately

Bryse Wilson's debut is done: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K. Three ground outs, one fly out.

Nice to see Ellis settle into his first decent AAA start last night. 5 IP, 4H, 0 R, 1 BB (!), 3 K. Only 71 pitches, and I think he was just pulled due to a delay.

I thought it was interesting that Newcomb only went .2 ip. He walked the first 4. Then a grand slam and then struck out the next two. Only at 49 pitches. It was like his manager said you are not going to come out and throw garbage and then get to stay in. Hit the showers. Or maybe he had a small injury (blister) that made him leave. But there has to be a reason why u get pulled after two strikeouts.

Odd line for Soroka. 6 runs (all earned) on 8 hits and no BBs. Normally you see this kind of line include a couple homers but only one of the 8 hits was for extra bases, a double.

Six runs on 7 singles and a double probably means Mike had some bad luck.

I haven't looked at the stats. But I bet there are several "hitter singles, takes second on throw".
Rome also had six errors. Even though all his runs were earned. That had to play a part.

We were the first to sing his praises last year. THe closer you look at last year's stats, the more more remarkable those numbers are.
