At this point, would it be fair to characterize Swanson's play at SS as "solid if not spectacular?"

Well, he's had a couple of spectacular games, a couple where he missed a play, but mostly just fine.

I tend to look at the spectacular plays as the better indicator. That shows he can do it... just needs to get a little more comfortable out there.

Julio looks good so far. 93 in his fb.

Don't know the specifics but hasn't Julio produced his best games when he stays 91-92, occasionally hitting 93? I seem to recall him getting tattooed when he was topping at 90-91 (as most pitchers do at this level unless the movement on their pitches is off the charts).

Gotta think Enscheff, Harry and Sturg are loving all of the talk about "protection" on the telecast tonight.

Swanson just had his best at-bat of the year. Fought some really tough pitches and then hits a solid single.

The myth of lineup protection has already been debunked by guys much smarter than Chip and Joe.

It's typical blather these announcers constantly spew. Freeman, Markakis, and Inciarte was hitting before Kemp got to Atlanta. Kemp is better than Frenchy, so he improved the lineup. He didn't make any of the hitters around him better.
