MOVES:

Mississippi: Odom, Mateo placed on DL; Scivicque, Sobotka promoted from Carolina

Rome is .5 games back of Augusta. They have 2 more against Greenville before a huge 4 game series against the team ahead of us. Hoping we can be ahead of them prior to the 4 game set.

Mississippi is in a tight race. They really have two going on. they hold a .5 lead over Pensacola for 2nd half division win. But if Pensacola wins the division then Mississippi would be competing against Mobile for overall record since Pcola won the 1st half division. Miss has a .5 lead over Mobile for that. So they still have some work to do. After tonight Missi. opens a 5 game set against Blioxi.

GCL has already clinched.

Gwinnett has .5 lead over Charlotte and will end the season with a 2 game set against them. Hopefully they can maintain that .5+ lead and not have to worry about winning both those games.

So we have 4 teams out of 6 that have a shot at making a playoff push.

Sims solid - 6 IP, 7 hits, 2 ER, 4 ks, 3 BBs

Minter actually walked two guys in his inning - need to get him away from Sims pronto!!!

Ozzie is on the list for the AFL. I liked his comments.

--Albies, still just 19, is hoping he'll get the chance to get his feet wet when rosters expand in September, but even if he doesn't, his mindset will be the same.

"If I don't get the callup, I'll keep playing hard and open the new season in the new stadium with the Braves," Albies said. "I will work harder in the offseason to have a great Spring Training again, to make things finally happen.

"I am patient, I am patient. I'm playing this game for me and my family. I have my goals and I want to reach my goals. I'm not going to step back. I'm going to go aggressively for it."

I think Jace is showing enough at 2b to make it wise to keep Albies in AAA next year long enough to gain control of is age 26 season. Even if that means 3+ months in AAA.

I get that fans tend to view decisions like this from a purely black-and-white financial standpoint, but there is something to be said for treating your players well and rewarding them when they've earned it.

It's clearly very important to Albies to be in the majors at least by Opening Day next year. If he's earned that, I'm a fan of giving it to him.

Yeah, our minors still stun me. Jenkins' line was weird. 6 IP, 1 H, 7 BB, 4 K. His stuff works fine in the minors, but he won't make it in the majors with anything close to that line.

Also, Sims was solid and Hursh has been AWESOME.

Swanson, Albies, Riley, Maitan, Acuna, Peterson, Morales, Ruiz, Demeritte, Pache and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few but for all the talk about our offensive prospects lacking that's a pretty good group.
