Albies and Swanson on latest KLaw's 25 top prospects

Really it's a list of pitchers, ss and cf

Swanson is 4th or 5th ss but 11 overall

Nats have number 1. Phillies have top 5 ss. Bosox and pirates have a lot

Swanson 11, Albies 17

Nobody else in the top 25 or honorable mention.. seems about right. And KLaw loves his Shortstops

I know Crawford has a lot of hype, but Albies was outperforming him at AA before his promotion, while being 2 full years younger.

I think you have to look at his AA numbers as a bit of a small sample outlier. But still, imo Albies is a Top 10 prospect. And yeah a better prospect than Crawford.

Link? I couldnt google 'Klaus top 25 prospects' and get anything.

If you stick with Klaus, it could have been him:

But not him:

Stats with prospects aren't just about results. When we look at small sample AA, Albies's value was primarily built on BABIP. Power was at the same level, but Crawford was slightly better at striking out, and he walked at a much higher clip. When we look ath their larger bodies of work we see these stats

Crawford has 13.4 BB% K% 12.9% .117 ISO. Ozzie has 8.9% BB% 12.6 K% and a .102 ISO.

Crawford and Ozzie are both good prospects as far as stats go. The difference is projectability. Crawford is 6'2 180 and Ozzie is 5'9 160. Being taller gives him more power potential. It also gives him a hair extra range potential.

He's also two full years older.

I think Crawford is supposed to have a higher ceiling defensively than Albies.

I also think Crawford is projected to have a lot more power. Rankings have been slow to move Albies up because of his size, but he's hit everywhere he's been. In comparison, pretty much every credible outlet missed on Altuve.

I tell you what, Swanson is convincing me more and more that he might turn out to be a real star level player. Jeter bat with better defense.

He's a stud, no doubt. He doesn't have to give us much power to be extremely valuable, but he may develop it anyway.

I would be happy with above avg defense, a .750 type OPS with 10-12 homers a year. But I think that might be his floor with the ceiling being more like an .850 OPS with 20 dingers a season
