Arcia up

I don't think anyone is expecting Arcia to be ozuna of last year. I do think he can help this team though.

Twitter folks are acting like he's the second coming. He can't be worse than Heredia/Almonte, but some of these posters on Twitter need a reality check and will likely get one soon (even if Arcia has a hot streak to start like many minor leaguers coming up).

His MLB track record shows he's Dansby-lite.

A 2-3 week hot streak could be immense. That would hopefully get us to the point where we acquire a real bat. Then Arcia can stay up giving days off to Swanson, Riley, and Ozzie.

Yeah, but I mean moving forward. Are we going to stick with five-man bench?

Closer to the trade deadline. Maybe just release Almonte or Panda. Maybe Arcia totally busts. Read your crystal ball and let us know what you see. Your guess is as good as anyone else at this time.

If it could be improved upon, I'd almost rather see the five-man bench but realize it may not be practical with most people's expectations of how starting pitchers should be treated now.

We need to get Gallo, Hanigar, etc... then use Arcia as a super sub and send Almonte packing (or just send down one of the stupid terrible pen pitchers that we don't need). Trade for one or two more pen pieces. I'm okay with Heredia in center for now. His BABIP is unsustainable, but he continues to be plenty effective for a bottom of the order guy with solid defense.

What's a realistic trade package for either of those combos?

If Arcia can show value enough to stick at SS for rest of season: Swanson, Newcomb and a 10-25 prospect for the 2 Pirates. Gallo will be more difficult considering what we have vs what we need. Dont think Swanson even up would get Gallo.

Why would they want Swanson? He's a FA

Graveman/haniger would be a good package also

Forgot Graveman was on the Mariners now... definitely sign me up.

EDIT: Graveman's peripherals make his performance look a ton more like luck than actual skill... 1.07 ERA with a 4.06 xERA plus a .169 BABIP against (.294 career mark) 92.6% LOB%... would rather have the other two guys... Graveman pretty much looks like fool's gold.

Arcia wasn’t good enough offensively to stick at SS everyday. He is now playing LF.

Think about that…

Not til 2023

Went back to make sure. After further review Im sure you may be one of the many reasons Mississippi is chided so frequently. LOL LOL

So in your mind the Pirates would give up a guy in Franzier with multiple years of control for Swanson who has less control and is a worse player? That is the most unrealistic trade proposal I’ve seen on this board since HH stopped posting.

Sounds to me we need to start mocking wherever you’re from.
