Banuelos DFA'd, Kubitza Claimed

Interesting. Guess they didn't like much of anything that they saw, even as a reliever. Or maybe we just have guys the FO likes a lot more as relievers.

This sucks. Absolutely sucks. ManBan was a stud in the making before all the injuries derailed his career. Still think he could have been a valuable lefty out of the bullpen and we just cut him and let him go for nothing. That's a shame, ManBan was one of the few pitchers in the mid and upper minors that I was exciting and really looking forward to pitching in the big leagues in the next decade or so.

Yeah, ManBan is pretty much done. Injuries have just ruined his career. Kubitza is a bit of an enigma. He does enough well that he still have a chance but he needs to take that next step. I could see him being a bit of a late bloomer.

Yeah, we're going to have a lot of arms to choose from to turn into relievers and they probably want the ones that have at least one good out pitch if not two.

Kubitza and Ruiz seem redundant though. Are they going to give Ruiz some time in the show or move Kubitza to 1B?

I may be wrong, but we only DFA'd ManBan. He still has to be claimed which at this point isn't a foregone conclusion. I wouldn't close the book on his Braves career yet.

Does he have to be claimed and added to someone's 40 man?

If someone claims him, he would have to go on the 40-man. If he clears waivers, Banuelos is a FA and could return to the Braves. Too bad. Showed some promise, but he can't seem to shake the arm problems. I thought Kubitza might turn into a major league bench guy, but he Ks way too much for a guy with limited power.

I'm a little surprised ManBan wasn't given more of a chance to turn in to a BP arm. He will likely become a scrap heap pickup some other team will turn into a useful LHer out of the BP....something the Braves usually excel at.

I think his medical profile must not be good.

Really don't understand the Kubitza claim unless the FO is looking to break some kind of second half activity record.

.220/.322/.354/.675 in 345 PCL ABs this season with 27 XBHs (6 HRs)

Rio's hitting better his first time through AAA at 22 years old.

Kubitza's defensive WAR is through the roof!!!!!!!

Kubitza has already been playing all over in Texas and did so in the Angels system too. IOW, Kubitza has played a lot at first, third and OF this year. So he isn't just a third baseman anymore. He can also play second if needed but best at first, third and OF.
