But I wasn't the one last summer excitedly hoping that the racial justice protests would create a backlash that would allow our homegrown brown shirts to hold on to power.

Naive is not the word.

Willful acceptance because he is a racist bigot is more accurate. Everything he says needs to be viewed within that lens. It’s an unfortunate turn.

But as I said. The 2020 election wasn’t a repudiation of the populist reclamation of the country. It was actually quite the opposite and now that the republicans have finally woken up to the deceit of the lefts mail in voting I would expect 2022 to be a banner year for ‘Trumpism’ and a reset back to when this country actually cared about its citizens and stood up to evil entities like the CCP and cartels.

Oh, he's definitely a racist. We see how little he thinks of minorities capability of performing easy things.

He is also a communist, who supports dismantling the individual in favor of the woke collective.

But it naivety comes in the form of how smart he believes himself to be, despite being wrong on literally every issue I can remember.

I remember when he spent months assuring us the German intel agency was days away from taking down Trump. He would even start the day with posts in German language.

That level of naivety and delusion is on another level, and very much so belongs in this thread

We have a long history of collaboration in this country. So many of us think that the news media and Hollywood being on the wrong side of freedom is new, but we forget that they were Nazi allies prior to WW2 as well.

There were many pro-nazi Americans. Some genuine isolationists. Some pro-nazi people operating under the guise of isolationism. It was an interesting historical period. By far my favorite for reading about, both fiction and non-fiction.

But I think it would be a mistake to say those sympathies were confined to "the media" or "Hollywood." You had Henry Ford, Charles Lindbergh, Father Charles Coughlin, Walt Disney and Joseph Kennedy among other luminaries.

And some journalists who it could be argued departed from best practices in their field by working to swing public opinion against the Nazis. Edward Murrow comes to mind. Churchill identified him from the start as someone who was shaping American public opinion in a favorable way and gave him a lot of "access." The Churchill family included a number of attractive women who played an important strategic role by bedding powerful Americans. They did their part for their country and helped save the world from the Nazis.
