Braves continue to beat the bushes for stray pitching

The end of the minor league season does not mean the end of the quest for healthy arms, it seems. Thursday, it was announced that the Braves had signed right-hander Britt Robertshaw, who was with the Southern Illinois Minors. If that sounds familiar, he is the fifth member of the Miners to be signed by the Braves, including infielder David Nick and pitchers Brandon Cunniff and Pete Perez.

Robertshaw, who was originally signed by the Rangers out of a tryout camp in August of 2013, was a closer at Tarleton State. For the Miners, who reached the Frontier League playoffs again in 2014, Robertshaw appeared in 37 games (3-2, 3.08, 1 save) and averaged better than a strikeout per inning.

Remember the names Mike Pinto and Preston Vancil -- the manager and pitching coach of the Miners. The way the pipeline has been going, it wouldn't shock me to see either of these guys brought into the organization.

Said Pinto, "We have a great relationship with the Atlanta Braves and the players we have sent to them have excelled.”
