Braves, Dodgers and Padres receive subpoena over Latin American dealing

Federal government: “Let's investigate abuses against Cuban baseball players to stop it from happening.”

Also the Federal government: “We’ve ended the agreement with Cuba allowing players to safely come to America.”

How many Cubans have the Braves signed right out of Cuba? Not many come to mind and those they did sign haven't had that much of an effect. They lost Negret to the Royals in the vacating of the 2017 signings, but I can't think of any other guys who were highly-regarded signing with us.

Would be nice If someone went to prison for that Olivera deal. I dont care if he hit like an all star that trade was bull****.

Dian Toscano

He's one. Donnell Linares was another. There was a guy named Yenier Bello who signed for $400 K back in 2014, but he played half a season in the minors. The guy they signed out of Cuba who appears to have had the best career is Brayan Pena.

I have a feeling this is more about people smuggling than baseball wrong doings. The Cubans have to get out of the country before they can sign. Probably teams are helping them which might break some laws. I didn’t read the article so I am going off the seat of my pants.
