He might not be the second coming of Adam Wainwright, but the Braves have made what might be another significant raid on the indy leagues.

Left-hander Blair Walters, still only 24, has been signed by the Braves after starting the Frontier League All-Star Game for the Joliet Slammers.

Walters has been "on" this year, logging a 2.74 ERA and allowing just 59 hits in 76 innings and has been lights out for much of his Sunday start for Lynchburg.

He was an 11th round pick in 2011, and began his pro career going 9-0 in the Pioneer League for the White Sox. But with a 2.88 ERA in the middle of 2012, he was sent to the Astros and went to hell. His ERA for the last year-plus was over 7.00 and was justifiably cut loose. But he is a healthy lefty who piles up innings, so let's see where it goes. The Braves could fast lane a lefty these days (See Thomas, Ian).
