Braves sign Travis D’Arnaud

Was thinking they'd go for Castro but solid pickup. SP, 3B, maybe cOF left to fill.

I think I would have preferred to see Castro platooned with Flowers, but getting arguably the best FA catcher still available on a very affordable contract is hard to argue with.

Payroll is now at $110M with holes at 3B, probably 1 SP, and possibly a RHH cOF. Just adding JD for $25M per might be all she wrote for 2020.

Reading the tea leaves, I think we got several relievers instead of the starter. Newcomb is SP4 and auditions for SP5. Fill at midseason if necessary.

we also could see the AAA shuttle come into play...we will have a deep group of starters in AAA with options

or Newk is trade bait, going into the year with Fried/Folty/Soroka and 2 ? marks isnt something i see AA doing.

I still think we’ll make a good size trade either for a starter or a of’er. Good pickup though.

Darn also has a bit of the “potential upside if he can stay healthy” narrative going for him, so that makes him a little more exciting compared to a pure platoon acquisition like Castro.

This financial flexibility thing is really good.

Travis rewarding us for keeping Chase on the team when we were awful

Just asking how i supposed to feel? I know this guy had a good year last year but do he make us a better team?
