Braves Take Unorthodox Approach to Overhaul

My main concern is the lack of potential high upside hitters, specifically power hitters. I cringe when I think about having to sign a free agent or trade for an aging power bat, with the horrible luck we've had with free agent signings.

We have some, but they are in the lower levels. Riley. Davidson. Yepez. Acuna.

There was a strong case to hold on to one maybe two of Heyward, Justin and Gattis. Including a long-term extension if necessary.

Well the issue with them being in the lower levels is that 2017 is being touted as the year things magically turn around with the opening of the new stadium. I don't see how that's going to happen with what we've got currently.

Yes. The issue regarding 2017 and the talent that is in the lower levels is an interesting one. Maybe deserving of its own thread.

The idea is simple. Develop a continuous stream of young/cheap pitchers so you can spend the big money on hitting. The only problem is there arent many hitters worth paying big money. If we do sign any SP it has to be a top end SP because theres no point in blocking our cheap/young pitching with FA mid rotation starters. Being a mid rotation starter is fine so long as they are cheap like Wood/Teheran are.

I think we're all getting a lesson in how things don't just magically turn around.
