Braves vs Jays! Sale rights the ship

Padres lose and Dbacks are up late. 4 teams seperated by 2 games. Still think it will just come down to the Mets series in the end.

No logical argument can be made that Sale hasn’t been the best and most valuable pitcher this year. That’s why that fool didn’t list any of the counting stats…Sale leads in everything other than innings.

Where will Iglesias finish in the Cy voting? You can’t give it to a reliever with the year Sale and Wheeler are having, but he’s gotta get some votes.

Our closer understands leverage better than our manager.

30+ years watching the Braves I have never seen a stretch by any Braves closer as good as Iglesias has been. I have seen it by non closers like Venters and O'Flaherty, but not a closer. Smoltz had a great run but he wasn't this dominant. Kimbrill was always an adventure. Darren Holmes and Chris Hammond both had one ridiculous year. It's hard to compare for pitchers who never had to deal with the Manfred runner in extra innings.

Since we are kind of getting the 2021 band back together this year I think it's only appropriate Ian Anderson get the 5th starter spot. Who knows whose elses arm will fall off between now and October. He could be starting playoff games again.

03 Smoltz was pretty insane, especially considering the era he pitched in. 1.12 ERA with a 1.54 FIP in 64.1 innings.

But I think you are forgetting how dominant Kimbrel was early in his career. Especially in 2012, where he basically unhittable with a 1.01 ERA, a 16.7 K rate, .654 WHIP, and microscopic 0.78 FIP. It's legitimately considered one of the best relieving seasons on record. He went to an 0-2 count on half the hitters he faced that season.

Kimbrel would have great outings but he would also have games where he walked 2 guys then struck out the side. Even in his prime he did that. Smoltz was great but every once in a while he would get lit up. Iglesias im the second half has been as close to perfect as possible. 0.00 era. 0 He allowed. 11k per 9. 1.5 BB per 9. Over 25 innings. No one's had a stretch like that as closer as a Brave.
