Braves worth 1.15B

Someone will have to explain to me how moving out of the city is a smart idea. People work till 5 o'clock in the city, will fans want to fight the traffic to get out to Cobb County?

Another way to look at it is this. A lot of people who work downtown, in Buckhead, etc. don't want to or aren't able to get off work at 5:00, spend an hour or two in traffic getting home to the North suburbs, then turn right around and drive back through traffic to downtown. I would think most people would prefer to go home and change clothes/ pick up kids/ etc. before going to a game as opposed to going straight from work. The late arriving weeknight crowds at Turner Field seem to back that up.

Full disclosure: I've never lived in Atlanta or even close to it. My wife did for 14 years, the last 4 of that in Duluth. I'm basing my opinions on what she and her friends always told me about the traffic and going to games, and what it was like the times I visited her while she lived there.

Survey said yes and I understand it wasn't even close.

Now, have MARTA with the upgrades ever thought about going out to that part of town?

That district is outside of MARTA's lines. So the county would have to agree to allow MARTA to go there, and then MARTA + Atlanta would have to agree to build it.. being in this part of the country the fight over taxpayer money to build a line specifically to Suntrust Park... lol

I have to say the current stadium is great for fans who are visiting. We stayed at an airport hotel and it was literally a 7 minute drive to the ballpark. Of course we got there 5 hours before game time.

Well, the area around the Ted is pretty rough. Although I have never had an issue it is perceived that way. That is one reason I heard.

"Out of the city" is a stretch. It is Cobb county and like 15-20 miles north of where it was...on the interstate. From their data, all the season ticket holders and such were north of the city anyway. People act like the traffic is going to be a huge issue, but traffic is a huge issue everywhere in Atlanta. I've been in traffic at 930 at night, 2pm in the afternoon, 530 am etc... I guess my point is that there are traffic issues everywhere. It will be easier for those people to travel 10 miles south than 35 miles south to the Ted. A ton of folks get to work early and leave early to beat the rush as well. Rush hour traffic really ranges from 3-7pm in the afternoon just because of the massive commuter population. It is a pain pretty much everywhere, even the current location.

I quite a handful of family members that live in the area. Their #1 gripe was traffic. When we had our family reunion that I went to, the traffic was so awful I couldn't make it to the game. I was so down. I wanted to spend time with family but dreaded the drive to the stadium.

End up going to a Bone Crusher concert for free though :eusa_dance: and it was only a couple of blocks away from the hotel.

I had to go back and look for the image, but I remember when the new stadium was announced, there was a picture that showed where every ticket to a Braves game was bought in 2012:
