Whom all here has lived there?

In the last 8 years, Chicago is always brought up as the epicenter for gun violence and gangs. Not coincidentally it gets picked on more frequently than other cities because a certain someone's hometown is there.

Statistically per capita, Chicago is nowhere near the hotbed for the above as the right or liberal media claim it to be. Chicago Metro Population is 3rd largest in the country at about 10million.

Nice to downplay that horrific increase in black on black crime. Guess you're another liberal (like the majority of them) who doesn't care about black on black violence since you're implying it's really not that bad in Chicago.

Chicago's homicides were very steady from 2004-2015. Around 400-500. From the 90s-2003 have gone from as high as the mid 900s to as low as 600.

Also Chicago's violent crime rate ranks well below cities like Atlanta, Milwaukee, Memphis, Indianapolis, Miami, Houston, New Orleans, and Cincinnati, but you never hear about them.

I grew up between Austin and Central, crossing Chicago and North Ave.

on the south side around Ashland between 79th and 87th to Damen. Played many hoops and got a name at OH park.

Chicago is still substantially higher than the two cities ahead of it in population. Inner-city gun violence is a serious issue that has been ignored for an extremely long time.

As for the gun control laws in Chicago, the statistics suggest a significant portion of the weapons used in commission of these crimes are brought in illegally from out of state. States where gun control laws aren't stringent at all.

So you're saying that when guns are criminalized, only the criminals have guns.

I'm saying that there might just be better ways to crack down on the flow of illegal guns coming in and that might, JUST MIGHT, reduce the amount of murders. But a lot of people seethe at the mention of any kind of control whatsoever.

I am laughing so hard now about stopping the flow of guns in Chicago. It ain't happening unless you want a lot of dead cops or law enforcement dead in the process and even then you are killing off the only element that can do something.

What they need to do is shipped all those hood rats, including some of my familym, off to an Alcatraz type of facility and leave them there and not have them on the street one week later because the capacity can't keep them.....or make drugs legal. I don't think they will go all out on pimping skanks on the corner as there is not much profit in that.

Illinois has one the lowest weapon registrations in the nation and Chicago the hardest to obtain a weapon, do you not think Prohibition inhibits more crime in transporting weapons as well as drugs?

I can make one single phone call to family in Chicago, which about 80% live and if I want a weapon I don't think it will be hard to obtain one.

This is one of the reasons why I will never EVER live in Chicago. When I go on vacation, sporadic shots and sirens 24/7. My ex lived out in Schaumburg and I did not hear a peep when I was out there.
