Yes the defund movement is stupid. No amount of social services is going to fix the problem. I support defunding as a tool to fight against corrupt police departments. When they have unlimited funds and there is no risk of their department going bankrupt there is little incentive to avoid abusing the public.



What we could do is emphasize the public safety part and less the enforcing laws part to lower the burden on cops. Remember when the NYPD did a strike where they stopped enforcing all those small **** and only focused on the crimes with a victim? Those were good times. Why can't that be permanent. Literally no one complained.
