FanGraphs Article on Santana's "new pitch"

Worst case - We get a draft pick for him
Best Case - we have a TOR starter for hte next 4 years.

Not bad

When a pitcher changes something even slightly it can have a big effect because hitters are looking at outdated scouting reports and video. Hitters will adjust but that doesn't mean he will not be effective. Just having a 3rd plus pitch for hitters to think about will help tremendously. Never thought I would say it but the braves are going to wish they signed him to a 4+year deal. If he contines to pitch like an ace I don't see any way Atlanta can compete with the big market teams for him. Maybe if Heywood doesn't prove worthy of a Freeman type deal they allocate that money to Santana instead.

It has been shared. I will merge the threads. Thanks for bringing it to the forum though.

Awesome! Glad someone posted it. I've really enjoyed having the guy around though. I truly believe he's been one of the veterans that this team has needed.

I wish we would of done a multi-year deal as well.

I think we can keep one of Jason or Justin and sign Erv.

I remember when I tried to tell you guys Santana would be a great grab. Heyward especially enjoyed telling me how wrong I was and how a multi-year deal would be a disaster.

I did, i think i said i'd be fine with it as long as it WAS a multi-year deal.

And not just for 1-year.

No. Quite the opposite. You just trashed me for being negative and wanting a "mediocre" pitcher on the team.

I did?

And i was living in the moment, upset when Beachy and Medlen went down, not the only one.
