Fried to IL

Makes perfect sense to have him skip a start to make certain the blister doesn't become a recurring issue. Bonus is he gets a mini breather immediately after having a breather at th AS break. Downside is our second best starter is getting skipped.

I'd place him behind Soroka and Keuchel as of now.

He hadn't been our second or even third best in a while, before last night 5 scoreless he had a 6.14 ERA in his last 7 and ERA over 5 in his last 15 games. Teheran has had a 3.11 ERA in his last 15 games. So our top three has been Soroka, DK and Teheran.

Well I don’t know about that. I mean Teheran’s been surviving out there but Fried has produced twice the fWAR of Teheran. Also to put it in perspective Teheran is still producing the same fWAR as Gausman who’s had a brutal year but in 42 more innings pitched. There’s a reason the Braves aren’t talking about him as part of their post-season plans

Teheran results minus a few games speak for themselves. Most impressive being the games vs Miami where he kept them scoreless giving us a chance to pull out rare 1-0 wins. Fried on the other hand struggled back-to-back against Miami including his loss before the All-Star break. It was good to see Fried finally have a good game last night, even if only for 5 innings. He has looked good vs the Brewers this year.

Teheran's facing off vs the best in the playoffs is another story. But he has been solid in 13 of his 20 starts so far this year.

I feel like I need to stop you right there and have you think about what you just said.

It's always impressive when you shutout a team giving your team a shot to win 1-0. Further, tell that to Fried who struggled against them. Also, tell that to Philly who've had a time trying to beat Miami. It is big to win these tight games vs bad teams.

I think Julio is better than fWAR gives him credit for but he's still a back end guy. To this point Fried has pitched quite a bit better. Hopefully we get more of what he did against the Brewers than his previous few starts.
