Gattis Traded To Astros (pg. 13)

We're under the impression that Texas was much more interested in Gattis than they were Justin. If that's indeed the case, I wonder if he might net a Ryan Rua and Nomar Mazara or Nick Williams return and whether Hart would take that. I just don't see any other potential fits at this point unless Baltimore wants to make Steve Pearce a full-time OF.

Other potential landing spots anyone???

Don't think Seattle has ever gone off the table.

I thought about Seattle, but just can't imagine they'd play him or Cruz in the OF. Have to admit Seth Smith looks like a better match for them at this point and would probably cost much less.

I still see the A's as a potential landing spot along with Texas, Houston, among others.

Not sure he fits in Oakland with Butler there unless Beane is willing to use him behind the plate, but I wouldn't mind a Renato Nunez and Boog Powell return.

I could probably get on board with a Domingo Santana and Colin Moran package from the Astros.

Gattis needs to be moved asap. Might as well go full deal with this asset sell off. He should bring a nice return, but ask for less prospects, but higher quality.

Regarding Gattis' trade value, we got a pretty solid read last night when Derek Norris was traded.

Norris, like Gattis, is an offensive catcher with below average defense. Both are under control for 4 years. I thought Oakland got a good return in Hahn and Alvarez.

Gattis has a bad back, and will be 30 when the new stadium opens.

TRADE HIM NOW.

Been thinking a lot about the Gattis situation lately and here is my take:

While I don't think Hart and Co. will move Gattis this offseason IF they do, there is one team that sticks out as the best fit... Baltimore Orioles.

The O's need to replace Nelson Cruz's offensive production from last year and given 500+ AB's Gattis could certainly do that (and possibly more). Gattis would slot in nicely behind Adam Jones and in front of Chris Davis while serving as their primary DH. The second and maybe the most important reason that he would be a nice fit is the fact that the O's aren't sure what kind of production -if any at all- they will get from Matt Weiters and Gattis would give them a nice fall back option in case Weiters misses significant time or just isn't the same kind of player as he was prior to undergoing TJ surgery.

Again I don't think Gattis will be traded, but if he is then the Orioles could offer us the most in terms of prospects therefore maximizing the return on Gattis.
