GDT 10/7/23: Braves vs Philthies - NLDS Game 1

I was also talking about in regards to the lineup. Albies should absolutely be batting cleanup against a lefty, and it should’ve happened in the regular season.

I think the exhibition games were clear. TD has been elevated to Fried personal catcher and Murphy will start vs. others. TD was on A team for Fried start and Murphy was then just paired with our starting pitchers

Interesting line-up - like the move to simply get our best hitters the most ABs, protect Olson vs. lefty with Albies and Ozuna and against righties just avoid having Albies be hitting second behind Acuna. I'd have Arcia lower albeit its a lefty and their best reliever is a lefty so sort of get it.

I believe this lineup was constructed to split the LHH up better specifically to limit the damage Alvarado can do to this lineup. Eventually Rosario will come in for Pillar, and the Braves can’t let the Phils deploy their BP ace in a manner that sinks an entire inning. This lineup helps prevent that.

Just a reminder that the Braves haven’t won a non-pandemic first game of a postseason since 2001. Even if you count 2020, they’ve still lost 11 out of 12. And, going back to 1999, they’ve lost 13 of the last 15.

Braves are overwhelming favorites and yet I have no confidence we win more than 1 game
