Folty (2.53) vs Romano (5.75)

Romano has been horrible and is honestly just not a good pitcher...we SHOULD not have a problem scoring runs tonight with some HRs because Romano is susceptible to it.

Also....Gotta former #1 BRaves prospect sighting in Peraza.

We need to beat up on the Reds this series....the Phillies have benefited by beating up on some really crappy teams so far, and are struggling against teams in the division. Their record reflects that right now.

We have beaten the Rockies, Cubs, Mets, and Phillies. We played the gNats tough....

Peraza hasn't even been good defensively. Good think the Braves traded him instead of Albies.

To be fair I don't think anyone on the board was upset trading Peraza. Everyone was just upset that we traded him for a 30 y/o mystery 3B. Then we were really upset when that player was terrible on the field and as a person.

Not surprising, but: Jose Bautista will become #Braves starting third baseman when he's promoted. Ryan Flaherty will be utilityman. Bautista is in Triple-A to see better pitching. Team doesn't anticipate he'll need much time there. (Gabe Burns)

That’s great. Let’s do that instead of seeing what we have in Camargo. This is Brian Jordan circa 2005-2006 all over again.

I was never at all high on Peraza, but it's hard to say "good thing" about his being traded when that trade was such a colossal misstep. He still had some value as a trade-piece, and—like Alex Wood—that value could have been leveraged much more intelligently and beneficially.

This is very odd, and is the first questionable move by the new AA FO.

They almost certainly have Camargo pegged as a utility guy, which is probably the correct role for him.

It's just odd that Bautista sat out the first month of the season when the Braves were supposedly willing to make him their starter at 3B. Why not sign him during the off season and not waste this time?

It's a real head-scratcher, and I wonder what the deeper plan is. All I can think presently is that Anthopoulos really doesn't have any faith in Camargo's bat—but it still seems like it's worth finding out for sure in an otherwise fringey season. Meanwhile, as Escheff and I were noting in another thread, the haste with which they're pushing Bautista is likewise confusing as hell.

AA said they did talk in the offseason but could not agree to a number. Talked briefly around christmas but not after that. Sounds like Bautista didn't get an offer to his liking anywhere, so after seeing the Braves play a few games, he reached out to AA

Only thing I can think is that AA thinks we severely need a RH power bat in the lineup and thinks that Bautista can have a comeback year under Seitzer.

Most of AA's fringe moves have paid off well, so he deserves the benefit of the doubt here.

This just reeks of the "Kemp still has something in the tank" move all over again. At least Bautista came cheap.

The main difference is that Bautista is a flier where the previous FO really thought Kemp was good.

It is questionable though.
