Pretty bummed Mallex, Albies, and Dansby were sent away. I understand it completely, but was cool seeing them do so well.

Yeah, the games will be lest interesting now. I expect Blair to be the first up of the group sent down today. Followed by Mallex. Maybe Sims gets a shot if the rotation takes a hit or two.

Gant still with the big club. outside shot of making team maybe?

Here's how I see the pecking order for the ML rotation:

Teheran, Wisler, Norris, Chacin, Banuelos, Baby Harang, Folty, Gant.

Gant is #8. It would take a lot for him to end up in the top 5.

Assuming we go with the top 5 on my list, here is how I see the rotations in Gwinnett and Mississippi:

Gwinnett: Baby Harang, Folty, Gant, Blair, Jenkins (with Weber in the pen)

Mississippi: Newcomb, Sims, Ellis, Bird, Janas (with Thurman and Barker as swingmen)

Gant's gonna be hard pressed to make the team because he has options. If he makes the club then we're going to lose one of the Rule 5 guys or someone else who has to pass through waivers.

Winkler's quietly put up some really impressive numbers. He's K'd 11 and walked none in 5.2 IP. His ERA isn't great but that's probably not indicative of how he's pitched.

DOB tweeted about him possibly being in the bullpen a week or so ago, but I don't see that at all? Why would they do that?

DOB has been skeptical about Norris and Chacin. It's an example of a beat writer talking his book so to speak.

You don't see us using Gant in the pen, do you? I hope they let him continue to develop as a starter in the minors.

I think Wisler has a higher ceiling than most think. Nothing over powering just a lot of above average pitches with improving control. And seems durable and can be very efficient if on. Little bit of Maddux in him. No I'm not saying he is Maddux.

And he is exactly the type of pitcher the Braves should ride for 3-4 more years and then trade him to a team in need of a MOR starter. Just like they should have done with JJ, Medlen and Minor before him.

If he keeps the ball in the park, he'll do just fine.

Does he have reason to believe that it's reasonable to be skeptical?

I'm skeptical of either of them being around for very long - Folty will take one of their spots (assuming they have them) as soon as he's stretched out, and Baby Harang has pitched MUCH better than either to this point this spring. All three of Gant, Jenkins, and Blair have very little left to prove and will be or were sent out to work on the final "tweaks" Roger and Company want to see them make. That's 5 guys who are all but "ready" not including Banuelos.

Having veterans around to watch is only helpful if those veterans are performing well. We've got a logjam in Gwinnett that will need to be addressed relatively soon.

Alex Torres has had a good spring, giving us one lefty for the pen.

But no one has stepped up to claim the second lefty spot. I have a feeling there will be a waiver claim or trade at the end of spring training for the second lefty.
