Beginning to get the feeling Garcia's going to get the Bethancourt treatment, and I'm going to be really hacked off if that's the case. We can only carry so many utility guys, and I'm convinced that two of them are KJ and Jace. We already know who Bonifacio, Beckham, and Brignac are - if you're going to carry one of them too, pick one and let's move on for crying out loud!!!

Free Adonis Garcia!!!

Nice to see Jace's bat warming up a bit. He really could be an important part of the future given his versatility. Our own version of Brock Holt if he could turn into a .280/.330/.400 hitter.

Astudillo is having a really good spring. And has had good minor league numbers with the exception of power. Anyone know if he's a good defender? Seems small for a typical catcher. I had never even heard of him until this ST. Guess we signed him out of Venezuela.

Played at High A at age 23 last year. Doesn't walk. Doesn't strikeout. Could be the next Jesus Sucre.

FA after Phillies let him go.

What frustrates me about us signing Bonifacio again is that we could've picked some potentially very good CF prospects in the Rule 5 draft instead. Then just use the CF prospect in a back-up role this year and have another solid CF prospect in the system next year (we're rebuilding so carrying someone like that makes as much sense now than ever). But of course we just wasted our pick instead and also brought back Boni. Figures.

He seems much better than Sucre so far. I like his contact skills a lot. The question with him seems to be more on defense. But if he can catch well enough I think he'll be a solid MLB back-up at least given his skills with the bat.

Starting pitching does not seem to be ready.

I think the plan was to hope we catch lightning in a bottle with one of Norris, Chacin, Kendrick. We can cross Kendrick off the list. Realistically the best we can hope for from Norris and Chacin is half a season of about replacement level pitching while some of the prospects attend finishing school in Gwinnett and then to flip em if another team has a need for a starter. Our rotation in the second half will be more interesting and likely better as well. I hope they stick to plan and send guys like Folty and Gant down to Gwinnett to develop as starting pitchers.
