GDT 6/14/'14: Braves (Floyd) vs. Angels (Richards) 7:15 EST

By the way, totally off subject, but I'm watching the Yankees game and they have Brian McCann playing first base tonight.

If you let BJ Upton bat 2nd for 2+ months while the whole time while not once having a 220+ batting average that qualifies you as a poor manager. It's mid June now.

This. Fredi has no idea of how to optimize the line up, and he doesn't coach to run expectancy. When you combine that with poor bullpen and overall poor pitching management, you have a poor manager.

Justin Upton has not homered in a week nor driven in a run in that same time period. 3 for 19 with 1 BB and 6 K's.

Freeman is 1 for 14 with 5 BB and 6 K's the last few games.

Both of these guys are hitting where they should be in the lineup, maybe you can argue Justin should be hitting second. But regardless neither have been doing their job at the plate the last week.

Lineup optimization isn't going to do jack when two of your biggest run producers in the heart of the order aren't driving them in.

But I digress... it's Fredi's fault for sure.

One of the big reasons the run producers aren't producing any runs is because you have a black hole hitting 2nd.

Many things are Fredi's fault though. I'm baffled as to why TLS or Justin isn't hitting 2. Right now it's pretty clear our 5 best hitters are Justin, Freddie, Gattis, Jason, and TLS, then a big fall to Simmons, Bossman, and CJ. So the 5 best hitters should hit 1-5

Either

Jason
Justin
Freddie
Gattis
TLS

Or

Jason
TLS
Justin
Freddie
Gattis.

I'd prefer the first.

Vague and obtuse, like a good armchair manager. Specifics please.

But I'm sure you're right in that he doesn't coach to run expectancy, non should he.

I don't think last night's game was freddis fault. However continuing to put bj in the 2 hole because he's afraid bj will get mad at him is ridiculous. Freddi needs to grow some balls and make the obvious switch of bj and TLS. Also I'd like to see Schafer platoon with him a bit. Disclaimer-I'm no Schafer fan, but bj is so freaking bad he just doesn't deserve to play everyday. He not only is possibly the worst offensive cfer in the game, but very well may be the worst defensively as well.

Yeah it's pretty insane at this point. BJ has had his moments this season, but they have been very few. Also he hant eclipsed an average of .220 all season?

That is the point. BJ has sucked for two years now and he is batting 2nd. Any good manager would have him burred so low in the lineup you couldn't see him.

Also when you have someone that can't hit the other teams can pitch around the guys around him. Not giving them pitches to hit.

Well if you don't have people on, how can they?

Also, when there is no one on base, they do the Han SOLO impression. When we need them to come through it is either K, or backwards K.
