GDT 6-5 CHARLIE !

I’m not convinced the Phillies don’t blow it up this winter.

I dunno, the ownership since they've taken over haven't show any appetite for a rebuild. They seem to want to just keep throwing "stupid money" at their holes, and not look in the mirror and understand ow poorly the organization is being run (especially development).

You make a very fair point. I guess also if Harris sticks and if Contreras is legit are both determining factors. But in the coming years, we will need essentially a full bullpen, at least 1 OF, a DH, multiple legit SP's (especially if we don't keep Fried), and eventually a 3B if we don't keep Riley. Not sure how much of that we can fill from within the organization and keep getting cheap production.

The answer is probably none. We can already see the point the window of contention will close on this Braves core. This organization simply isn't on the level of organizations like the Rays, As, Astros and Dodgers at consistently churning out impact players. They got their core from the rebuild, and haven't done much since.

The trick for AA will be to know when it's time to blow it up and start a 2-3 year rebuild rather than dragging it out and forcing a 5+ year rebuild. I always link that timeframe to right when Fried hits FA after the 2024 season. At that point the core will be aging, expensive, and AA won't have the resources to continue plugging the holes. They will have 4 years of Acuna and 3 years of Albies that could immediately build a new core for 5+ years of contention.

However, that changes if Harris becomes Adam Eaton, Contreras becomes a 4 win catcher, and Wright becomes Wainwright. At that point they ride out the Acuna deal, and look to rebuild somewhere around 2027.
