GDT 7/11/22: Braves vs Mets - Aces Up

At least snit figured out how to allow the opposing manager to completely neutralize the bottom of the lineup with a single LHP. Well done sir!

Luckily the Mets only have one LHP, so the trick only works once a game and maybe twice a series.

Even better, now the opposing manager can force Snit to unwind the platoons with RHH PHs, and then have the RHP/RHH platoon advantage the rest of the game. Or Snit can pick and choose when to fire the RHH PH shots, which I'm sure he will properly navigate based on his in depth understanding of leverage, win probability, and expected runs scored.

We catch a break this series. This board's favorite Mets player Jeff McNeill just went on paternity leave today. And Starling Marte is still out injured.

Thats only if Snit decides to take the handed advantage now as opposed to later.

I *itch as much about Snit as anyone, but I'm afraid you're being a little two-faced here.

When you want the BEST hitters to get the most PAs regardless of their handedness, it's a little unfair to gripe about this. There's certainly a case to be made about moving Harris up, but if you're going to slide the best LH hitter up to eliminate the chance the opposition only has to use one LHRP to face several of them in a row (or in the same inning) you probably need to shift Harris all the way up to 5th between Riley and Ozuna.

Does anybody think he's really ready for the pressure of hitting in the middle of the lineup? If you're not going to put him there, I'd make the argument that he ought to stay in the #9 spot since he's much more likely to see better pitches to hit with Acuna behind him instead of Cano or Arcia.

I'm mostly just preemptively venting about Snit not firing his LHH PH options correctly more so than upset about the actual lineup. The man couldn't figure out to PR Goss for Contreras last night when Goss was already guaranteed to come in the game to play defense, so I have zero faith he will unwind these platoons competently.

The best 4 hitters are up top, and he's using platoons where they make sense. That's all that's really important.

Quite sure we'll ALL continue to do this until he retires, but I'll grudgingly admit to being at least a little happy to see him get the Rosario/Duvall and Arcia/Cano parts right rather than using HIS guys because he "trusts them in big spots".
