GDT 7/24/21: Braves @ Phillies - SJ24 to the bench

I wonder if Ender would accept a AAA assignment or just ask for his release. No one is going to pick up/trade for the rest of his 8 million plus his buyout/contract for next year.

I imagine this is because we need a roster spot soon?

Ynoa has to be activated from the 60-Day IL at some point (although he does have the 30 day window so it doesn't have to be immediately). He threw 30 pitches the other day (up for 15, down, up for 15), so it wouldn't be all that surprising to have him only do that once or twice in the minors fairly soon and then add him to the pen.

Of course it would make plenty of sense to just DFA Tomlin when they do that.

I was wondering if there was a corresponding move within the organization or if it does mean someone coming in from elsewhere.

Would be nice to get some official clarity from someone about Ozuna's situation - not sure they won't have to activate him before the Commissioner's Office puts him on the restricted list (assuming that happens). Would need a roster spot for a day if that were the case.

I'd guess they would activate him and he'd go on the Restricted List the next day and they could call Waters up at that point. Of course you could go ahead and DFA Panda and have Riley and Pederson act as the backup 1B if you were in a hurry to open a spot for Waters.

If nothing else, this ought to finally make it clear to everyone that no one was going to take his money back in a trade - once the 10 days are up anyone can pick him up for the minimum if he doesn't want to go to Gwinnett.

If Freeman had been getting these results earlier this year there would be no thoughts about selling at the deadline.

Someone should take some time to see if the Braves really are doing a poor job shifting as it pertains to BA vs grounders.
