GDT 8/21/19: Getting it Right

If Swanson's comeback goes well this might be the last week Hechavarria is with us. I doubt he is on the roster come Sept. if Swanson, Culberson and Camargo are all healthy. You don't need three back-up shortstops so he would be the odd man out to add someone else on the 40-man at some point. O'Day is trying to make it back for Sept. and would need one spot if he can do so.

What makes you think Camargo can backup SS?

Whether we like it or not, that is one of the positions he plays. Plus if Swanson is healthy you can make him your second back-up after Culberson. Why Snit went with Camargo so much over Culberson is another story.

Camargo is in AAA right now in favor of Hech and several other players. I find it highly unlikely adding more healthy better players will suddenly open up a spot for Camargo.

There is no reason to dump Hech when the rosters expand very soon...

I don't see a fit with Camargo right now. Once Riley and Swanson are back I suspect you will see the following. Riley and Duvall in the OF against lefties. Joyce and Ortega in the OF against righties. Hech as the SS backup. Charlie as the super sub.

Edit: Of course nothing will stop Johan from coming back up in Sept anyways. The limited sept callups doesn't start until next year.

Camargo was always coming back barring injury when the rosters expand. There will be a need for 40-man roster spots and Hech. is a likely candidate to lose his if Swanson, Culberson and Camargo are all healthy. It will probably come down to the health of Swanson whether Hech. stays or goes at that point.

i never said there was a need, AA said that was the plan for Camargo when talking about why he was sent down.

The 40-man roster situation could change based on a number of factors of course. I do see it likely the Braves add Murphy by Sept. but I hope we are not forced to do so sooner because of Mac's injury. I am hoping it proves minor and he only misses about ten days. O'Day and others will need spots too should they make it back or impress enough in the case of call-up options for Sept. If we end up only adding Murphy and no one else, then Hech. would be more likely to stay.

McCann has an MCL sprain or strain (Snitker referred to it as a strain) in his left knee; #Braves hope to have him back as soon as the 10-day period is up or shortly thereafer. McCann had told some that his knee was hurting last week.
