I wonder if the plan is to make Culberson play the role of RHH OFer when Swanson returns.

Duvall's .288/.321/.615 (.937 OPS) line with the .345 BABIP regressed to .275 and the 26.3% HR/FB rate regressed to ~16% (2 HRs changed to 1 2B and 1 fly out) is...

.212/.250/.442 (.692 OPS)

That lines up pretty well with his .315 xwOBA (~.320 is MLB average).

Needless to say the Braves needed another OFer at the deadline.

Markakis has posted a .365 xwOBA vs RHP in 2019, good for 4th best on the team (behind only the true stars Freeman, JD and Acuna).

He has been very effective against RHP, and it isn't his fault Snit has failed to rest him vs LHP (a terrible .292 xwOBA against) to limit his exposure to them.

The Braves needed a RHH OFer all year, have made several failed attempts at finding that hitter, and then failed to add one at the deadline. Now they are running a below average hitter out there everyday in the middle of a playoff chase.

When Swanson returns, the correct OF deployment strategy is probably...

vs RHP:
Joyce LF
Ender CF
Acuna RF

If a LHP is brought in to face Joyce, immediately counter with Duvall, who would be the defensive sub late in the game anyways. If a LHP is brought in to face Ender in a high leverage situation, PH with Culberson/Camargo and switch Acuna to CF.

vs LHP:
Culberson LF
Acuna CF
Duvall RF

If a RHP is brought in to face Culberson or (especially) Duvall in a low/medium leverage situation, counter with Inciarte to play CF and shift Acuna to RF. If a RHP is brought in to face Duvall/Culberson in a high leverage situation, counter with Joyce, and then double switch the P/CF positions with Ender and a BP arm.

That's what the Dodgers would do...

I don't see any scenario where Snitker gives Joyce a start.

Maybe it's what the Dods would do. But not Snitkers.

Lol, Mets fans are ecstatic about signing Joe Panik. Did no one tell them that he sucks ass?

Metropolitans fans have been clamoring for this for days. They are unanimous in their conviction he is the final piece of the puzzle. He is a local boy. No one is more parochial than a New Yorker.

But some say Duval is still hitting with authority.

Does Julio use Paul's personal blackening mix to do the Blackening?

Try this out on fish fillets, pork chops, boneless/skinless chicken breasts, or burgers. Fry in a little oil until black on both sides.

3 Tbls Paprika
2.5 Tbls Salt
1 Tbls Granulated garlic
3 Tbls Cayenne pepper
.75 Tbls white pepper
.75 Black pepper
.5 Tbls Oregano
.5 Tbls Thyme
