Why is this season the one that is turning me into msstate? I don’t want to be msstate. I want to make love to women that aren’t related to me.

I liked the Chavez, Smyly piggyback. Is Touki back yet?
 
Tonight's game reminded me of that game last week of the 1991 season at Riverfront when the Reds broke out 6-0 and the Braves found a way to way. Also, Riley had 3 hits and 2 RBI not sure what more could be asked of him.
 
Cant believe we won that game. You know Philly were sticking around and watching hoping we’d lose. We really need to win tomorrow the Pirates to win.
 
Pirates might give us some help today. Hans' ERA in AAA is over 6 in one start. Mostly been in AA this year.

Injuries and some notable underperformances from guys they thought would put them over the top. One of the difficult things going from 2020 to 2021 was determining if 2020 performance during an abbreviated season was projectable and the Padres have a couple of examples of where the projection didn't hold up (particularly Grisham and Myers). Hosmer's and their OF's production really doesn't look like a contender's.

As Bobby Cox once said after the Braves got off to a slow start one season, "There's a reason we play the games."
 
I usually don't go nuts on Snitker's missteps, but his decision to leave Ynoa in the game in the fifth (I would argue even starting the fifth) was almost an invitation to be fired.

Snitker would be a bad tactician in the 90’s. This has been his worst year since he’s become the manager.

Right. Even Bobby understood platoon matchups and getting players regular rest. Hell, he probably understood those concepts better than the other managers of his era.
