I'd rather try to get BJ going than play Laird. Have Gattis catch. Hopefully we will get out to a big lead and then maybe BJ can get an AB or something.

It seems pretty clear from the lineups of the past week or so that Fredi is going to go with Elliot Johnson over Uggla in the playoffs.

BJ is 0 for his last 16 with 9 Ks. He had his chance to get it going earlier this month and failed. It's a lost season for him and he doesn't deserve any more chances. Plus, there are only 2 games left anyway.

He hasn't been going all season what makes u think he will in 2 games?????
see this post time after time about getting him going, he is not going anywhere..he had
his chance for most of the season time has run out..

Was just about to say this.....

Fine, em I think Laird sucks just as bad as BJ, but BJs defense and speed on the bases heave forbid he gets on base, outweighs anything Laird brings to the table. I would rather see Bethancourt catch than Lard

Actually, nobody sucks as bad as BJ. Not sure if you haven't been watching the games or just don't know the stats, but BJ is hitting .106 in September with a .367 OPS! That's 5 hits in 47 ABs, with 21 strike outs. Now I'm not saying Laird is an amazing option, but BJ should not even be considered.

I just go by what I see, and I haven't seen Laird get a hit since July it seems

Laird second half OPS .498. BJ .537. Schafer .455. Terdoslavich .603. Reed .440

The choices are not pretty if McCann can't play.

Also the pinch hitting options for Fredi are not good at all. Our bench played way over its head in the first half, and has regressed way past its norm in the opposite direction. If you are an optimist, you might want to argue that they are overdue.

Other than being the highest paid player and Justin's brother, does BJ deserve to be on the post season roster? As much as I want him to do well, he hasn't done anything this year.
He surely isn't deserving of a pinch hitting chance, late inning defensive replacement? If we went to the world series and he got an at-bat in every game, the chances of him getting a hit is about -27%

BJ has been great in the post season from what I remember

He's also hit over the mendoza line every season in the majors in the past, this year not even close. I can't believe you think he will suddenly just put it together because the post season started.

Would you really rather have Schafer?

Cubs aren't giving Atlanta any help -- no surprise. Looks like the Braves need to sweep to get home field. I was hoping for the Braves to play 9 reserves tomorrow (knowing Fredi's tendencies, he will anyway with home field advantage on the line).

I'm fine with it. More innings in LF may make Gattis slightly sharper come the post season. THe last 2 games of the season won't change the season BJ has been having. Even if he went 8-8 with 4 homers I dont' think he makes the post season starting roster. He'll be invaluable off the bench as a defensive replacement (cause Gattis isn't good in LF) but we have to let our starting OF play and gel as much as possible. Hopefully we win and St. Louis loses so we can just let them get 5 or 6 innings in tomorrow then rest them.
