Tip of the hat to the Withrow family, which notched a pair of nice wins Wednesday.

Chris Withrow, 27, was lights out in extra innings for the Braves last night, getting the win -- the Braves' first extra inning victory of the season. Since returning from AAA, Withrow (1-0) has worked 3.2 innings over four games, allowing only two hits, no runs, with four strikeouts. He pitched in 10 April games, he allowed only one run over his first eight appearances (5.2 innings) before allowing runs in back to back games.

While in Gwinnett, worked in nine games, with five saves and 1.08 ERA. Should have made him AAA Pitcher of the Month, but oh well.

Little brother, Matt Withrow, 22, struck out seven over five scoreless and Jordan Edgerton, Braxton Davidson and Reed Harper each had run scoring hits in the second as the Mudcats shutout the Dash 3-0 in Winston-Salem at BB&T Ballpark on Wednesday night.

Withrow (3-4, 3.67) won his second straight and struck out seven while scattering five hits over five scoreless innings in the series opening victory. He left after the fifth with the Mudcats (21-29) leading 3-0 and after reaching 87 pitches (59 strikes).

Drafted in the 6th round by Braves in 2015 out of Texas Tech. Matt is a moose: 6-5, 235, who started his pro career 1-8.

Given the size of these guys, I can only imagine that the Withrow family grocery bill was close in magnitude to the US defense budget when these two were in the household.

But good news all around.
