I could listen to him talk baseball for 12 hours a day.

He is so humble and kind.

I really liked what he and A-Rod said was one of the most important stats: Runs. It was interesting to hear Jackie Robinson believed that, too, all those years ago. I also really liked what Hank said about strikeouts.

Also fascinating that he was a switch hitter at one point and that the toughest pitcher he says he faced was not Koufax or Gibson, but Stan Williams.

Just awesome stuff. The GOAT.

What did y'all think?

obviously runs are the most important thing in baseball. it's identifying how runs are scored and who and what gives you the best chance to score more runs.

he really does seem like a great dude tho. dude is 85 but still extremely sharp

WAR is basically a calculation of runs above replacement.

Advances stats tend to be confirming of the basics in the end.

He was very successful in his time as a switch hitter and the only reason he quit being one is he broke the guy on decks face with a foul ball. I could listen to him talk for days. I have to buy his book.
