Been listening to the new David Gilmour album - phenomenal btw - and found that it was appropriately released in the Fall about when we read the news that nearly 90% killed by our drone strikes in our drone wars weren't the intended targets. What a horrific thought. Gilmour notes another victim: the guy behind the joystick.

I'm no pacifist. I believe there is a time, a legitimate time for war. But war is hell - on all sides of the equation. My fear of the new drone strategy is that it removes us further from the very losses of our own which can serve as checks upon unjust or prolonged engagement in questionable war choices. We may become desensitized as a people in general. Yet, there are still psychological wounds inflicted.

A Pink Floyd alum. Well done!!! I agree about the drone stuff, I can see when it could have a purpose but as you said, war does too sometimes, it just shouldn't be thrown around so cavalierly, IMO. Also at the risk of starting a riot in your new thread I feel like this is the main reason so many are pro-choice, as long as we don't have to see it or touch it or be personally involved it (whatever it may be, but especially stuff like abortion) then it just plain doesn't sound as bad. At least that's my opinion, probably worth both cents it cost. :)

the movie "Good Kill" is pretty good and is about drone pilots and their missions and their struggle of what they were asked/ordered to do. it's worth checking out
