Sure would be nice to unload Laird.

"Is that a ball?"

Will they take Doumit instead? Wait, he actually has 2 hits now. He is having an awesome season....

Maybe we can give them Laird and Doumit and we can get a popcorn machine or cotton candy machine out of the deal. That's a win win.

Then the only garbage left on the roster is Uggla, Heyward, BUp, JSchaefer, Pastornicky and Pena

I don't know who's available (Buck/Torrealba/etc). But, basically, any available quad-A catcher would be a better fit.

Also, Corkster could never hit.

Let me know when you come across an available quad-A catcher who would represent an improvement over Laird. I'd be interested in knowing his name.

So who do you all want as our backup catcher?

IMO, back-up catcher is an area we should try to improve. Whether that be by getting a better defensive catcher and/or someone with more pop than Laird. Given that Laird is one of the worst pitch framers in MLB (though not as terrible as Doumit who's been the worst when a regular). It shouldn't be too hard to get someone that is better than him in that area. It also shouldn't be hard to get someone with more power as he has none (hits about one a year).

To sum it up, Laird is not hard to replace on the field but what he brings to the team otherwise might be.
