Those of us old enough to remember 2000-2001 surely recall the frequent chatter about John Burkett's bowling prowess. Looks like he's beginning his professional bowling career in earnest. Bully for him.
His 2001 season remains one of my favorite "what the hell" player years in recent Braves' history. 219 1/3 IP, 147 ERA+, 7.7 K/9, an All Star appearance and 7th in the league in WAR among pitchers, all as a 36-year-old we had picked up in spring training of 2000 after the Devil Rays cut him.
