Almost halfway through the season he is on pace for a 4 WAR year. Being paid the going rate for 3 WAR. On top of that it is a one year deal with all the advantages of financial flexibity and risk control that this entails. Plus we can give him a QO at the end of the season.

I say a bridge in RF or sign Markakis another season with a platoon mate like an Adam Jones and we'll be cool

I think it’s a little premature to talk about a QO for JD as a certainty, but if he ends the year healthy with an OPS of .850+ it probably makes sense.

Then if that is the case, Riley need some coaches for him to play LF fully and not take bad routes.

I played left but I had Steve Finley in center and you know how good he was when we played together, but Ronald is not the best center fielder out there and Riley is just learning.
