Giving you guys a personal preference for July. Which fits your definition of a Player of the Month.
HITTER OF THE MONTH
JESSE FRANKLIN, Rome OF
As a team, the R-Braves were a glum 11-18 in July. The good news is 11 homers belonged to Franklin during July, who also drove in 26 runs for the month. The bad news is that homers might have gotten a little too important to the Braves' third-round pick in the abbreviated 2020 draft, as he hit only .228 with 37 strikeouts. Franklin had 19 homers over for the season.
VAUGHN GRISSOM, Augusta
The 11th round pick in 2019, still only 20, missed the first 13 days of July with an unspecified injury. Whatever slowed him, Grissom hit the ground running as he hit .429 the rest of the month with three homers, six RBIs and 3/3 stolen bases. He had a four-hit game July 25th and three homers in his last five games -- including the last two games of the month.
WILLIAM CONTRERAS, Gwinnett
Send back to Gwinnett due to his prolonged slump, he snapped out of it immediately. Beginning July 8, he hit .343 for the month with eight homers and 23 RBIs in just 19 games.
PITCHER OF THE MONTH
BRYCE ELDER, Mississippi
Their final 2020 pick (fifth round) and rumored to be the toughest sign, Elder is a tough Texan whose upward climb is gaining momentum. Hew moved to Mississippi after only four starts in Rome, and was at times dominant during July with a 4-1 record and 2.73 ERA. He went at least seven innings in his final four starts in the month.
