`
HITTER OF THE MONTH

Michael Reed (Gwinnett OF)

The Milwaukee Brewers gave the Braves a gift by allowing Reed to become a minor league Free Agent. Signed by the Braves at the end of November, he got some notice in limited spring training ABs before beginning the season at Mississippi. He hit .338 out of the gate in April and was still batting .314 when promoted to Gwinnett the final week of May. All he did upon arrival in Gwinnett was hit .356 (34-for-95 with six doubles, five homers, 14 RBIs and 12 runs score. He had a 1.034 OPS in June.
Overall this season, he has 82 hits in 74 games and a combined .337 average.
Reed is a right-handed hitter, 6-0, 215. He's still only 25 despite breaking into pro ball in 2011.

***NOTE***
For the month of June, Braxton Davidson was .262-8-21, albeit with 35 strikeouts.

PITCHER OF THE MONTH

Touki Toussaint (Mississippi P)

Touri, who turned 22 on June 20, was merely awesome in June as he finally seemed to shake the curse of no offensive support. The right-hander, acquired from Arizona in Dave Stewart's finest hour as D-Backs GM, has made five starts, posting a 2-1 record and a 1.17 ERA. He threw 31 innings, allowing only 20 hits and 11 walks while striking out 35. Opponents hit all of .182 against him in June.
He struck out 10-plus in two of his last 3 starts, each a seven-inning outing for the right-hander.
His one loss game in a game when he allowed one run, unearned, in six innings.
He also batted .308 for the month with four RBIs.
