Guess we can't give Hitter of the Month to Bryce Ball!
The Braves' 24th round pick this year has played in 10 games so far. He leads the Appy League in home runs (5), RBIs (13) and average (.389). He is 14-for-36 going into July!
SO, Braves Hitter of the Month for June:
Drew Waters, Mississippi: Despite a late-month hiccup, he hit .370 for June, 37 hits in 27 games, including 10 doubles, four triples, two homers and 12 RBI. Has 1.027 OPS. Also struck out 28 times in June, but that was down from 38 in May. For the season, he's hitting .324 at home, .323 on the road. Has 101 hits for the year, but 95 strikeouts.
Waters currently lead the league in hitting (.324), doubles (26), triples (8) and runs scored (46) and hits (101).
Another Small Sample Size HM:
Braden Shewmake, Danville: in 10 games at Rome, hitting .442 (19-43) with 5 doubles, a homer and eight RBIs. Also has yet to commit an error.
Braves Pitcher of the Month
Ian Anderson, Mississippi: Did much more than anchor a no-hitter his final start of the month. Anderson had a 4-1, 2.35 in five starts, one complete games (not the no-hitter) and struck out 43 in 30.2 innings. He allowed only 18 hits for the month.
Anderson leads the league in strikeouts, with 113 in 85.2 innings.
