Minor League Relief Arms--Right Handed Edition

We have a really interesting assortment of right handed minor league pitching prospects. Most of them are old for their levels and some have issues with control. But there are some good arms in this group generating some interesting stats. I give their strikeout and walk rates at their current minor league levels.

Lamm 25 AAA 9.5 5.0

Jaime 26 AA 14.6 6.2

Harper 24 AA 8.8 2.7

Hoyt 26 AA 8.7 3.4

Simmons 22 AA 14.1 3.9

Cornerly 24 A+ 12.5 4.5

Hyatt 22 A+ 10.5 5.6

Rivera 23 A+ 12.4 6.3

Simmons is the fast riser here. Small sample in AA, but impressive he has maintained his numbers even after skipping a level. With the promotion, he is actuall a bit young for his league.
 
I have no clue what Simmons throws but he will be a big part of our bullpen for the next 5 years. Hopefully he makes it somewhat palatable to trade Kimbrel for a haul of prospects.
 
Another guy that interests me int he future is Eric Pfisterer.

I think he could finish next year in AAA/AA.
 
Pfisterer is a lefty. We have fewer of those doing well as relievers. Basically him and Carlos Perez. Pacheco has a good arm, but is walking over a hitter per inning in AA.
 
On the right-handed side we also have quite a few guys starting in the minors whose most plausible path to the majors is as relievers: Hale, Northcraft, Schlosser, Martin and maybe Graham.

We have a big surplus of right-handed guys who project as relievers in the majors. It is our area with the largest surplus. It speaks well to Wren's shrewdness and attention to detail that he dealt a player out of that surplus (Cory Rasmus) when the time came to acquire a lefty for the major league pen (Scott Downs).
 
Didn't catch the right handed relievers part of it. Thought this was just generic relief pitching thread.

No problem. We don't have as many lefties in the upper levels to talk about. It was interesting, however, to see the team draft four of them in this year's draft. There was clearly an organizational awareness that there was a need there.
 
What are the reports on Shae? How does he rack up those strikeout numbers. Is he a Kimbrel type or more of a deception type of guy?

Throws mid-90s. Needs to develop a consistent breaking ball. A very good pick for the 22nd round.
 
I posted about Simmons last night in the prospect thread. When you look at his stats it reminds you of Craig's in the minors as well. I think we have a ton of options for relief in the system so we should be fine for a while.
