Hessmania Forever
Stripers Beat Norfolk Tides 6-1

As noted in last night's game thread, a solid debut from Soroka. He probably has a ways to go because it appears he was on a very tight 60-pitch limit.

The top (or interesting) performers

Grissom 3/4, R, RBI (4), 2B (2), 1 HBP. Now hitting .500 with 1.682 OPS
Wall 2/4, R, RBI (3), K, BB
White 1/5, R, RBI, HR (3), 4 K
Dean 1/4, R, SB (1), CS (2), 2 K
Shewmake 1/5, RBI (6), 2 K

Soroka 3 2/3, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 K, 1 HRA, 61 pitches (37/24)
Swarmer W (1-0) 1 1/3 IP, 1 BB, 2 K
Winans S (1) 4 IP, 9 K . Would have been perfect except he made an error.

Mississippi, Rome and Augusta open up tomorrow night... and still no rosters for any of them. For whatever reason, the Braves always seem to be last in announcing minor league rosters.

Hey, I'm just glad not to see an error next to Grissom's name.

How did our AAA team get so interesting so fast ?

I don't think they are all that interesting. A guy who is developing into a very solid player--Grissom--some "maybes"--like Shewmake and some guys who can contribute as plug-and-play guys, particularly White, Wall, and Tromp. If I am going next level on a couple of guys, it would be pitchers like Elledge, Holmes, and Vines (when he comes off the IL).

Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty good set of guys most of whom might be able to help in a defined role. Grissom is the obvious exception because he projects as at least an average starter (position to be determined) and Soroka will likely be up and contributing once he's stretched out. Anderson is back on the 7-day DL and I'm curious what his future holds.

For the 30th place farm system that is pretty interesting. We don't have any top 100 guys.. so watching Griss, Shuster, Dodd (or Elder.. depending on who gets sent down first), Soroka, some potential pen guys and then like you said, plug and play types that might add value. That is very interesting for a contending team like the Braves.
